Medomak Valley’s indoor track team may be short in numbers, but they are long on talent. The girls won the KVAC 4 by 800 relay in 10:48.54 at the league championship meet Friday night at Bowdoin College.
Medomak Middle School Grade 8 boys’ basketball team defeated Boothbay 48-45 to advance to the Busline League Championships, to be held Wed., Feb. 4 at Medomak Middle School at 5:45 p.m.
Three Medomak Valley wrestlers placed at the Eastern Maine Class B championships, held at Medomak Valley on Saturday, to qualify for the State Class B championships to be held at the Augusta Civic Center on Feb. 7.
Wiscasset jumped on Winthrop early in a Western Maine Class C quarterfinal match-up at the Augusta Civic Center Monday night. Wiscasset dominated the boards (39-23) and held a double-digit lead from the first period, in a game never contested by the Ramblers. Wiscasset led 17-6 at the quarter, 32-16 at the half, 44-29 at the end of three, before going on to win 60-38.
Medomak Valley girls’ basketball coach Randy Hooper was named KVAC 2008-09 Coach of the Year. Hooper has coached basketball at Medomak for four years.
The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches announced the 2009 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star teams on Feb. 18.
Lincoln Academy’s wrestling team placed fourth at the Western Maine Class B Regionals, held in Wells on Saturday.
Medomak Valley boys’ basketball team crushed Erskine Academy 47-28 on Feb. 11 in East Class B preliminary action at Medomak. The win earns the Panthers a berth in the East B tournament at the Bangor Auditorium. The Panthers out rebounded the Eagles 37-18 in the win.
Lincoln Academy boys’ basketball team wrapped up their KVAC season with a 49-37 win at Medomak on Feb. 5. The Eagles got off to a slow start, trailing 12-4. Ben McLain hit a 3-pointer at the first quarter buzzer to close the gap to five, 12-7 at the break.
Lincoln Academy girls’ swim team and Wiscasset’s boys’ swim team defeated Winslow on Friday. The Lady Eagles won 47-45 and the boys won 45-38. Tim George broke his own WHS swim record (set in 2005) in the 100 breast in 1:11.00.
Medomak Valley girls’ track placed third out of 10 teams and the boys fourth out of eight teams in a KVAC meet at Brunswick this week.
Indoor Field Hockey is great exercise and the CLC YMCA is opening their floor for the sport during the winter months
The YMCA will again be opening their gym for indoor field hockey pickup games on Sundays from 1-2 p.m., starting Jan. 11.
Waterville out scored the Eagles 32-14 in the second half to pull out a 49-33 win in Waterville on Tuesday.
The Medomak Valley Pee-Wee Wrestling program (pre-K through Grade 4) begins on Mon., Feb. 2 and runs through April.
Boys and girls from the SAD 40 area are welcome and encouraged to participate. This program will introduce basic skills and techniques.
