Alna Road Commissioner Mike Trask laid out Alna’s road infrastructure needs at the Board of Selectmen’s regular meeting Jan. 19.
According to Town Clerk Amy Warner, Trask hopes to install a new culvert on Lothrop Road, surface the town’s dirt roads, put gravel on Old Sheepscot Road, and improve the trenches on Rabbit Path Road, among other things.
The selectmen also discussed whether to make the Road Commissioner a selectmen-appointed position should no one run in Alna’s March elections. Trask has said he will not run again when his current term ends March 17. No decision was reached.
According to First Selectman David Abbott, while someone will certainly be elected as a write-in, it is uncertain whether they would take the job.
“Someone will be written in, if they take the job or not is the question,” Abbott said.
As of press time, no Alna resident has signaled their intent to run for Road Commissioner. The deadline for submitting nomination papers to the Town Clerk is Jan. 31 at 2 p.m.
