Lincoln County residents started the week digging out twice as back to back storms barreled through the area on Mon. and Tues., with snowfall expected on Weds. as well.
Forecast snowfall total for the Tues. storm is 5 to 9 inches, making for 10 to 18 inches of forecast accumulation for both events, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Exact snowfall totals are still pending as the storm is continuing at this time.
No major incidents or power outages were reported during either storm.
Forecasters were surprised by both storms — both of which strayed from their anticipated tracks, chugging north instead and intensifying in the Gulf of Maine.
A Winter Storm Warning issued by the NWS remains in effect until Weds. at noon, and some snowfall or flurries may continue, according to forecasters. Southern areas of Lincoln County may see a clearing of snowfall in the morning hours. However some forecasts indicate the possibility that the storm may “slide back” and hit the Lincoln County area with some afternoon or evening snowfall, much like the New Year’s storm did.
Either way, all forecasters agree that Lincoln County residents will “enjoy” some more snowfall on Weds., with the timing and amount yet to be determined.
