A Winter Storm Advisory issued on Sat. remains in effect through 2 p.m. on Sun., according to the NWS. Radar images monitored on intellicast.com at the time of this posting indicated that the southern border of the storm was passing through Portland and moving to the north-northeast.
Forecasts for snowfall totals from this storm were for up to 6 inches of accumulation, and that mark may be met with continued snow through the early afternoon.
No major incidents have been reported in Lincoln County at the time of this posting. There have been scattered reports of vehicles off the road and minor traffic collisions.
The timing of the storm on a weekend day was fortunate for commuters and school administrators — but school children may have felt the timing was slightly less advantageous.
Residents reported some minor flooding in low spots of the municipal parking lot in Damariscotta near drains that lead to the river. A moon tide combined with storm surge added between 0.5 to 1.0 feet of additional height to the morning high tide of 11.8 feet, according to NWS estimates.
The Lincoln County News website will continue to follow the progress of this weather event and post any additional information here as it becomes available.
