A Freeport man suffered minor injuries when he rear-ended a FedEx truck in his subcompact car on Route 1 in Edgecomb Friday afternoon, Jan. 16.
The accident slowed traffic on Route 1 in Edgecomb and Newcastle for about an hour during the evening commute as emergency workers and tow truck crews worked to clear the scene.
David A. Pallin, 53, of Freeport, was driving a 2008 Hyundai Accent south on Route 1 shortly after 4 p.m. Robert R. Boies, 53, of Lewiston, was driving a GMC box truck south on Route 1 in front of Pallin.
Boies slowed to make a left-hand turn onto Dodge Road, just across the Newcastle-Edgecomb town line in Edgecomb. Pallin was “blinded by the sunlight” and “couldn’t see” the truck, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Hatch said.
Pallin sustained “minor injuries,” Hatch said. “He’s complaining of leg pain.”
The Accent was badly damaged.
The Edgecomb Fire Department and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
