The driver of a pickup truck was killed in a single vehicle crash near Bristol Mills on Feb. 9.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Michael Mclain of Damariscotta was driving north on Rt. 130 just south of Bristol Mills around 8 p.m. when he lost control around a curve, entered the southbound lane and eventually left the roadway striking several trees.
The truck rolled over, ejecting Mclain from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It has been determined that Mclain was not wearing a seatbelt and that speed was likely a factor, but the investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to the LCSO. A toxicology test to determine if alcohol was a factor will be performed, as is required in all fatal motor vehicle crashes.
Along with the LCSO, Bristol Fire and Rescue crews and Central Lincoln County ambulance responded to the scene. The accident reconstruction was done by the state police.
