In polling results June 9 Dresden voters elected Dale Hinote to the first selectmen’s seat on the board of selectmen, narrowly favoring Hinote over two-term incumbent Phil Johnston, 61-56.
In Dresden’s sole other contested race, voters returned former treasurer, town clerk, and excise tax collector Kim Rzasa to the town office after a year hiatus. Rzasa won a three-way contest with 69 votes, defeating incumbent Joseph Atkinson, 33 votes, and Theriault, 18.
Rzasa served in Dresden’s town office for all of but two years between 1998 and 2014, and she was town treasurer from 2007 or 2008 until 2014. She did not run for re-election in 2014.
Dresden Property Tax Collector and Excise Tax Collector Ann Pierce was reelected to both offices with 100 and 105 votes respectively.
Peter Walsh, 12 votes, and Sherry Moody, 5, were elected to the Dresden Budget Review Committee as write in candidates.
William Matthews was elected to represent Dresden the RSU 2 Board of Directors, with 103 votes and Dresden approved their 1.2 million dollar share of the 25.9 million RSU 2 budget 81-41.
Dresden voters convene to address the remainder of the town’s business at their annual town meeting Saturday, June 13, 9 a.m. at Pownalborough Hall.
