The town of Waldoboro accepted the ownership of a 1998 GMC Sierra seized as part of a drug investigation last fall. The Waldoboro Board of Selectmen approved the transfer of the asset to the town during their regularly scheduled meeting on Jan. 13.
The Waldoboro Police Dept. acquired the truck during a joint investigation with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
According to Det. Sgt. Lance Mitchell of the Waldoboro Police Dept., the truck was seized following the arrest of David Beal of Jefferson.
Law enforcement officials took possession of the vehicle after the investigation revealed Beal had been using his truck for illegal drug trafficking in Waldoboro and surrounding areas.
Mitchell said Waldoboro Police had to apply through the state to acquire possession of the truck, a forfeited asset.
