A 48-year-old Chamberlain man was killed Dec. 16 when the Ford Explorer he was operating went off the road and struck several trees around 8:40 p.m.
According to report from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Nourse was traveling south on Rt. 130 when his vehicle went off the road on the northbound side. The Ford struck an embankment and several trees before rolling over and coming to a rest of its roof.
Nourse who was wearing a seatbelt, was deceased at the scene, LSCO reports.
According to the LCSO, speed is considered a contributing factor in the accident. Following standard procedure, police said a blood sample will be taken for blood alcohol analysis.
Members of Bristol Fire and Rescue and Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service personnel also responded to the scene. Investigators and rescue personal remained on scene for nearly three hours following the accident.
Travel along Rt. 130 was briefly interrupted but resumed with control by fire personnel.
Deputy Todd Chilton is the LCSO’s primary investigating officer. LCSO Sgt. Brendan Kane assisted Chilton at the scene. LCSO Crash Reconstruction Specialist Sgt. Jason Nein is reconstructing the crash.
LCSO referred any inquiries regarding the cause of death to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.
