Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Rt. 17, also known as Rockland Road, in Whitefield earlier Wednesday evening.
Whitefield Fire Chief Tim Pellerin said flames were visible at the private residence when the first units arrived on the scene after 8 p.m.
Pellerin said a rapid, aggressive interior attack knocked the fire down quickly. He credited extensive training in mutual aid procedures for the save.
“The crews got in, did exactly what we’ve been training for the last couple years to do,” Pellerin said.
Pellerin reported the homeowner got out safely, and as of 9:10 p.m., there were no reports of injuries. Firefighters from Windsor, Somerville and Jefferson assisted Whitefield at the scene. Alna provided Whitefield with station coverage.
