According to Lincoln County’s Emergency Management Agency, the significant weather system that moved through the Midcoast Sunday left limited damage in its wake.
As of 9:30 a.m. Monday morning, two roads remain closed due to downed power lines and approximately 60 other roads affecting roughly 600 residents are without power.
Road closures include Rt. 218 in Alna near the Cross Road intersection and the two sections of East Pond Road, one at the Rt. 1 intersection and again at the Upper East Pond Road intersection are closed in Nobleboro.
Lincoln County EMA Deputy Director Kim Kaiser said she anticipates both roads will be reopened sometime Monday.
In Jefferson, North Mountain Road and a section of the Augusta Road (Rt. 32) are both down to one lane of travel.
In Newcastle, official National Weather Service observer Arlene Cole reported recording well over two inches of rain as of 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Storm related power outages are largely concentrated in Jefferson, Southport, and Waldoboro.
According to Kaiser, it appears the county has escaped storm related flooding, however, motorists should still use caution when or if they encounter a partially or totally flooded roadway,
“Please don’t drive through a flooded roadway because you won’t know if the road’s has washed out,” Kaiser said.
As of this posting, power outages affect 28 roads in Jefferson, 24 roads in Southport, 10 in Waldoboro; five roads in Edgecomb, four in both Westport Island and Nobleboro, three in Whitefield and two roads each in Bristol, Dresden, Alna, Wiscasset, and Somerville.
