Damariscotta
Damariscotta’s annual Memorial Day parade will step off from Lincoln County Publishing Co. building on Mills Road in Newcastle at 11 a.m., Mon., May 31. The parade will follow the traditional route from Mills Road to Bus. Rt. 1 to the First Baptist Church in Damariscotta with stops for memorial ceremonies at Newcastle’s Memorial Park and on the Twin Villages bridge. Open house after at American Legion Post 42, Damariscotta.
Dresden
The Lincoln County Historical Association invites everyone to the 56th annual observance of Memorial Day on Mon., May 31, beginning with a free 7 a.m. pancake breakfast at the Pownalborough Court House. At 11 a.m. sharp all those present will gather at the flag pole on the parade ground. The Rev. Bruce Alexander of Dresden, assisted by enactors from the Samuel Goodwin’s Company and their camp followers and families, will lead a program of honor for our fallen soldiers.
Waldoboro
The Waldoboro Fire Department Auxiliary will be holding a pancake breakfast, 7-8:30 a.m., Waldoboro Fire Station. The Waldoboro Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a Memorial Day parade on Mon, May 31. Line-up for the parade is at 8:30 a.m. and the parade will start at 9 a.m. at the Waldoboro Town Office. The parade will cross Rt. 1 and proceed down Jefferson Street, then turn down Old Route One. The parade will stop at the town’s two monuments, including at the old customs house (old post office/ old library) and the memorial by Medomak Terrace.
Whitefield
The Whitefield Historical Society will hold its annual Memorial Day observance on Mon., May 31 at the townhouse, beginning at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
Wiscasset
A Memorial Day observance will be held at the Wiscasset Veterans Memorial, located at the town office at the corner of Rt. 1 and Rt. 27 at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day, Mon, May 31. The Bradford Sortwell Wright Legion Post #54 will lay a wreath at the memorial, and Marine chaplain Wallace Staples, of Woolwich, will give a brief memorial speech.
