Lincoln County TRIAD will be holding their 11th annual Elder Appreciation Day on Sat., Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. at the Boothbay Region Elementary School on Rt. 27, Boothbay Harbor. Admission is free.
Organizers promise a fun-packed day with entertainment, prizes, and plenty of delicious home-cooked food. The popular band, The Holy Mackerel Trio, will keep things lively and swinging.
The new police chief of the Wiscasset Police Department, Chief Troy Cline, will be the featured speaker. Over 30 exhibitors will be available with information helpful for area seniors. Health and Wellness Programs will be available once again, providing blood pressure, vision screenings, and the popular Tele Health Unit.
Members of the Lincoln County TRIAD will be handing out free file of life packets and free 911 cell phones to anyone who requests them. These are just two of the many free services that Lincoln County TRIAD offers in an effort to help seniors stay safe in their homes. The file of life packets are magnetized plastic envelopes that contain a form for seniors to record their medical conditions, medications, and related information. The envelopes are kept on the senior’s refrigerator, making this vital information readily available in any situation when EMTs respond.
The 911 emergency cell-phone project is offered to all seniors in Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties at no cost. This is a recycling program in which Lincoln County TRIAD collects used, outdated, nonworking cell phones and has them professionally reconditioned into 911 emergency cell phones.
Maine, and especially Lincoln County, has long been a favorite for seniors and retirees. This is attested to by the fact that Lincoln County has the highest population of seniors per capita of any county in the United States.
Elder Appreciation Day is an opportunity for the members of Lincoln County TRIAD to meet the seniors who have contributed, and continue to contribute, to make Lincoln County such a friendly and safe community.
