The trial of Buddy Robinson, accused of murdering Christina Fesmire, 22, in July 2011 began Nov. 6.
Fesmire’s body has never been found. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Lewiston. She’s originally from Bremen, where her parents still reside.
Police charged Robinson, 30, of Lewiston with murder in October 2011, after an investigation led them to believe Robinson drowned Fesmire in the bathtub of her apartment.
Opening arguments were heard in Androscoggin Superior Court, with Assistant Attorney General Andrew Benson’s claiming the state would prove Fesmire died the early morning of July 1, 2011 at Robinson’s hand.
Benson said cell phone, bank records and witness testimony would prove Robinson’s guilt.
Robinson’s defense attorney, Edward (Ted) Dilworth said the state has no evidence to prove Robinson’s guilt, and that during the investigation, people lied to police. The trial is expected to last around two weeks.
