Great Salt Bay Community School has been locked down as a precaution and Damariscotta Police Department officers and Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies are present at the scene.
All students at the K-8 school are safe and there is no threat inside the school, according to law enforcement sources.
AOS 93 Superintendent Steve Bailey said the school went into temporary lock-down after receiving information from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office about a “possible outside threat.”
Bailey said school activities are proceeding as normal inside the school and the school will resume recess and other outdoor activities as soon as it receives clearance from law enforcement.
The school will update parents soon by e-mail and the school website at https://sites.google.com/a/aos93.org/great-salt-bay-community-school. The school asks parents not to go to school to pick up their students early at this time, Bailey said.
