Wayne P. King Jr., 33, of Waldoboro, pleaded guilty to felony aggravated forgery and theft and misdemeanor violation of condition of release Sept. 27 in Lincoln County Superior Court.
Justice Donald Marden sentenced King to 10 months on the joint recommendation of the defense and the prosecutor. King will serve the sentence concurrently with a sentence he is already serving for aggravated operating after revocation.
The forgery and violation of condition of release charges stem from an elver fishing incident.
Assistant District Attorney Andrew Wright said a marine patrol officer summonsed King for a violation, but King gave his brother’s name. When his brother did not answer the summons, he received a $2000 fine.
The state discovered the deception when King’s brother contacted the court to protest the fine, which was dismissed.
The theft charge stems from an April 11 incident when King and five other men attempted to steal a “dragging rig” from a South Bristol property to sell as scrap metal, Wright said.
The property owner contacted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and, with friends and relatives, used vehicles to prevent the men from leaving the property until deputies arrived and arrested all six men.
King has prior convictions for assault, domestic violence assault, forgery, refusing to submit to arrest, theft and violation of condition of release, all since 2004, Wright said.
A co-defendant in the South Bristol theft, James A. K. Vachon, 20, of Lewiston, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft Oct. 1.
Justice Andrew Horton sentenced Vachon to 20 days. He will receive credit for 15 days served.
