The Waldoboro Board of Selectmen will meet with a representative from Lincoln County Healthcare to discuss the future of long-term healthcare and related facilities in Waldoboro Feb. 14.
The meeting will be held at the regularly scheduled selectmen’s meeting, beginning at 6 p.m. in the town office. All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend, said Town Manager John Spear.
The meeting follows almost exactly a year of correspondence between town officials and Lincoln County Healthcare regarding the former Fieldcrest facility on Depot Street near Rt. 1. Lincoln County Healthcare bought the property when the facility closed.
At this time, it does not appear that any plans are in place for Lincoln County Healthcare to install a facility in Waldoboro – at the Fieldcrest site or otherwise – however the meeting will be an opportunity for town officials to discuss the matter with James Donavan, president and CEO of Lincoln County Healthcare.
“This is an important community issue,” Spear said. “We hope residents will attend the meeting to discuss it.”
