Arthur H. Lund, 77, of Jefferson, passed away Dec. 13 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in South Portland on June 29, 1929, a son of the late John and Magda Lusth.
Arthur graduated from South Portland High School and immediately joined the U.S. Navy where he served as an Electronics Technician 2nd Class. In the years following he built a number of houses, including his octagon home that he designed.
He graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Engineering Physics, taught at Waldoboro High School, and worked in the engineering field.
Despite his poor health, he was able to go downhill skiing this past winter and kayaking early this summer with his sons.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Lusth, Raymond Lusth and Richard Lusth.
Arthur is survived by his wife of more than 52 years, the former Bessie Schwarz; sons, Scott A. Lund and Eric J. Lund, both of Jefferson; brother, Charles Lusth and wife Elaine of Windham; sisters, Helen Schwarz and husband Richard of Cumberland, June Tucci of Pownal, and Marie Lusth-Winn of Orono; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Service to celebrate Arthur’s life 2 p.m., Sat., Dec. 16 at the Orff’s Corner Community Church on Rt. 32 in Waldoboro near the Jefferson town line.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coast of Maine Cremation and Funeral Service, Waldoboro.
