Barbara Ann Blanchard, 84, died at LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta on Aug. 18. Barbara was born July 30, 1932 in Brockton, Mass. to Milton and Alice (Willis) Bassett.
She grew up in Randolph, Mass. and graduated from Randolph High School. She married Ellsworth Blanchard and raised her family.
Barbara worked for Marshall Paper Tube in Randolph, Mass. as a factory worker for many years. Barbara and her family moved to Maine in 1986. In Boothbay Harbor she worked as a chamber maid at Fisherman’s Wharf and Ocean Gate Hotel.
Barbara’s family was her main focus. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was strong, loving and caring. She loved to go shopping, traveling with her husband and loved her cats.
She was predeceased by her husband; sister, Charlotte Curran; brothers, Edward and Milton Bassett; and son-in-law, Richard Hansen.
She is survived by daughters, Deborah Hansen and husband Ron of Boothbay Harbor, and Melanie Hansen of Sanford; sons, David Blanchard of Boothbay Harbor, and Robert Blanchard and wife Karen of Middleboro, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., Sept. 3 at the Boothbay Harbor United Methodist Church, Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor.
