Barbara M. Brown, of Ocean Point, passed away peacefully on Sept. 28 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, surrounded by her husband and children following a brief illness.
She was born on April 13, 1929 in Orange, N.J., the daughter of Edward W. Johnston and Lillian Vail Johnston.
She graduated from Mountain Lakes High School, Mountain Lakes, N.J. and from Westbrook Junior College, Westbrook. She received her BA in early childhood education from Lesley College, Cambridge, Mass.
Barbara taught Kindergarten in Brooklyn, S. Euclid/Lyndhurst, Ohio. She lived in Kirtland, Ohio and Willoughby, Ohio. She resided in Ocean Point, and Palmetto, Fla.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James A. Brown of Ocean Point, and Palmetto, Fla.; children, Betsy (Brown) Plummer and husband Bruce and their children Nicole and Matthew of Boxboro, Mass. and Ocean Point, Bob Brown and wife Mary and their children Sara, C.J. and Carolyn of Willoughby, Ohio, Barry Brown and wife Kimberly and their daughter McKenna of Burton, Ohio, and Bill Brown and wife Rhoda and their children Rio and Kai of Gilbert, Ariz.; and cousins, Ginny Curtis of Damariscotta and Ocean Point, and Bob and Ingrid Vail of Arizona and Ocean Point.
Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2008 at the Wilson Memorial Chapel in Ocean Point.
