Beverly C. Hills, 92, of Damariscotta, passed away on the morning of April 16 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta, with Robert, her loving husband of 70 years, by her side. Born in Meriden, Conn. on Oct. 8, 1924, she was the daughter of Walter and Lydia Crooker.
At the age of two, Beverly and her family moved to New Milford, Conn. where she would go on to graduate from New Milford High School in 1942. Bev then worked for seven years as a teletype operator in a defense plant during WWII in Meriden.
At the age of 38, she went to Central Connecticut State College, and got her bachelor’s degree in teaching, and her master’s in Early Childhood Education. She then taught school for 21 years before retiring.
Bev and Robert vacationed at a cottage on Lake Pemaquid at Lakehurst Camps for over 50 years. They loved the area, and finally moved to the Schooner Cove Independent Living Community in Damariscotta in 2004.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Lorin Crooker.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Hills of Damariscotta; and son, Robert J. Hills of New York City.
