Beverly Clifford Bowden, 83, of Damariscotta, passed away on the evening of June 5. She had recently moved back to Maine after many years of living in Utah.
She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Maine and Utah, where she received their award for Woman of the Year. She worked a variety of jobs, including bartender at the Legion for many years, Puffin Stop, Colby & Gale Laundromat, pie maker for D & R Coffee Shop, and her favorite, crab picker. She enjoyed playing bingo and Pinochle.
Beverly was predeceased by her first husband, Ronald Clifford; second husband, Paul Bowden; sons, Roger Clifford, Steven Clifford, and Michael Clifford; brother, Rex Shakespeare; and sisters, Millie Dixon, Mary Skelton and Barbara Sharp.
She is survived by sons, Gary Clifford and companion Katie Corson, David Clifford and wife Virginia, Robert Clifford and wife Cindy, and Billy Clifford and wife Candy; daughter, Rhonda Mott and husband Don; step-sons, Steve Etchen, and Kelly and Leanne Bader; step-daughter, Tammy Copenhagen; sister, Ethelyn Derosa and brother-in-law Andy; grandchildren, Michael Clifford and wife Katie, Sandra Solo and husband Jeff, Travis Clifford, Josh Clifford and companion Ashley, David Clifford Jr. and wife Shauna, Rebecca Smith and husband Lee, Matt Clifford, Daniel Pendleton, Cristal Bryant, Nick Clifford and wife Ruthie, Olivia Poole and husband Matt, Arielle Clifford and companion Cody, Jeremy Clifford, Jeffrey Clifford, Misty Casey and husband John, and Robbie Stonehouse and wife Destiny; great-grandchildren, Hunter Allan, Kayleigh Allan, Lily Smith, Otis Smith, Cecil Clifford, and Ashlyn Clifford, Cole Clifford, Brandi Bryant, Drew Bryant, Ernest Poland, Shea Clifford, Harmony Clifford, Josh Clifford Jr., McKenna Poole, Corinne and Jaxson, Olivia, Quinn, Trinity Stonehouse, and Jayson Benner; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wed., June 14 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
