Burke “Joe” R. Field, 83, of South Bristol, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on the morning of Nov. 21. Born on Nov. 10, 1931 in Jackson, Mich., he was the son of Clarke and Virginia (Burke) Field.
Joe grew up in Michigan and was educated at the Taft School and Lehigh University. For many years he lived in Andover, Mass. and New Britain, Conn., and worked for Allied Thermal Corporation before retiring to South Bristol 15 years ago.
Joe was predeceased by parents, Virginia and Clarke Field; and brother, James Field.
He is survived by loving wife, Mary Jane Field of South Bristol; siblings, Clarke H. Field of Savannah, Ga., and Sally Niece of West Harwich, Mass.; sister-in-law, Wendy Field of Richland, Mich.; children, George B. Field of Crofton, Md., Christina F. Braun of Medfield, Mass., Daniel Woodruff of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Scott Woodruff of Camden; grandchildren, Sabrina and Sarah Field, Alexandria and L. Connor Braun, Emma, Ian and Tristan Woodruff, and Molly, Sadie and Sage Woodruff; as well as his faithful dog, Brie.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held in the spring or summer of 2015 in South Bristol.
