Calvin H. Clark, 80, of Jefferson, died Oct. 15 at his home. He was born Sept. 23, 1930 in Jefferson, the son of Waldo and Ruby (Tyler) Clark.
He grew up in Jefferson and attended Jefferson schools. He graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, class of 1949, and from the University of Maine Gorham with a B.S. Degree in Industrial Arts.
He worked for the State of Maine in the Department of the Secretary of State for 16 years and taught Industrial Arts at Medomak Valley High School, in Waldoboro, for 18 years.
He served four years in the Navy during the Korean War.
He was a member of Riverside Masonic Lodge in Jefferson. He was very devoted to the United Baptist Church, South Jefferson, where he served many years as Sunday school teacher, Deacon, and Choir Director. He was a past member of Jefferson Grange, the Jefferson-Nobleboro Sno Packers and the Jefferson Fire and Rescue Department.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling, and working in his woodworking shop. He always took a lot of pride in working up the next winter’s firewood.
On Dec. 15, 1951, he married the former Doris Jago.
He was predeceased by a brother, Weston Clark.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carol Brown and husband Steven of Jefferson; sons, Gary Clark and wife Mary of Jefferson and Glenn Clark of Brunswick; grandchildren, Patrick Brown and wife Jennifer, Justin Brown, Rebecca and Tyler Clark, all of Jefferson; and sister, Geraldine Russell of Bristol.
There will be no public visiting hours. Funeral service 1 p.m., Tues., Oct. 19 at the United Baptist Church, South Clary Rd., Jefferson. Burial and committal prayers will follow in the Trask Lawn Cemetery, next to the church.
