Carl James Bancroft, 68, of New Harbor, passed away on the morning of April 1 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness. Born in Bridgeport, Conn. on May 9, 1946, he was the son of Herbert and Mary (Butch) Bancroft.
Carl grew up in Connecticut and attended schools there. After school, he served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1966-1967. He later worked for United Technologies Corporation for over 20 years, before retiring at the age of 62. He lived in Connecticut for most of his life until moving to New Harbor a year ago.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Fortin.
He is survived by his partner of almost 30 years, Diane Wright Hall of New Harbor; son, Carl Alfred Bancroft of Enfield, Conn.; daughter, Chris Bancroft of Tolland, Conn.; grandson, Kyle Bancroft of Tolland, Conn.; sisters, Kathleen Keener of North Carolina, and Carol Bancroft of Georgia; brother, Richard Bancroft of Connecticut; and half-brother, Alfred Lemieux of Iowa.
A private graveside service will take place in Windsor, Conn. at a later date.
