Carol A. Scott, 84, of Old Saybrook, Conn., a longtime summer resident of Round Pond, died peacefully on Nov. 19.
She was born Nov. 9, 1930 in Boston, Mass., daughter of Horace G. and Hilda (Eberhard) Thacker.
She was a graduate of Needham High School and received a master’s degree at Boston University.
A resident of Old Saybrook for over 45 years, she was a creatively inspiring member of Valley Shore Chorus of Sweet Adelines for over 23 years. With her degree in education, she enjoyed being a nursery school teacher for the Old Saybrook CO-OP for 17 years. As an active member of the Congregational Churches of Old Saybrook, then Deep River, she was selfless in giving with choir, adult fellowship, and numerous other committees. For over 75 years, Round Pond was her family sanctuary, enjoying the peace and tranquility of nature.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Ronald P. Scott; brother, Donald G. Thacker; and sister, Dorothy T. Osier.
She is survived by children, Gregory Scott of Old Saybrook, Conn., Andrew Scott and wife Karen Abercrombie of Deep River, Conn., and Elizabeth (Scott) Guerra and husband Mark of Lake Worth, Fla.; grandchildren, Christopher Scott and fiancée Ginnette Aramboles of Coventry, R.I., Elizabeth (Scott) and husband Bo Norman of Clinton, Conn., and Danielle and Haley Guerra, both of Lake Worth, Fla.; great-granddaughter Briana Norman; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A church service was held Nov. 23 at Deep River Congregational Church, Deep River, Conn. She was laid to rest next to her husband at Chamberlain Cemetery in Round Pond Nov. 30.
