Cecilia Barbara McQuaide, 97, of Prospect Harbor and Ellsworth, died March 20 at an Ellsworth healthcare facility.
She was born June 23, 1910 in Medea, Penn. the daughter of George P. and Elizabeth (Uhl) Horn.
While accompanying her husband overseas during his shipbuilding days in Germany, Italy and Japan, she developed the fine art of “Ikebana”, Japanese flower arranging. She successfully continued with her own classes when she returned to live in Cundys Harbor. She was a past member of the Ikebana Society of Portland.
She is survived by a son James P. McQuaide III and wife Phyllis of Edgecomb; and daughter, Cecilia M. Strohmeyer and husband, George R. of Prospect Harbor.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will take place early spring/summer in Pennsylvania. Interment will be in New Jersey, beside her husband James Purcell McQuaide, Jr.
