Charles Ernest “Charlie” Brockett, 81, of Waldoboro, passed away at his home on July 4. He was born Dec. 10, 1935, the son of Welton T. Brockett and Flora M. (Burleson) Brockett.
Charlie worked as an operating engineer in Connecticut until his retirement in 1990. He loved attending livestock auctions where he acquired many animals. He also liked antique auctions, was an avid fan of horseracing, for the last three years he relished watching flowers grow, bird watching (especially hummingbirds) and butterflies. He enjoyed playing cards and games, loved listening to classic country music and was quite sad when George Jones, his favorite singer, passed away. He also loved country western dancing around the house with Carol.
Charlie is predeceased by his parents, Welton T. Brockett and Flora “Mae” Brockett; and brother, Welton “Sonny” Brockett Jr.
He is survived by wife, Carol Lee (Knowlton) Brockett of Waldoboro; children, Adrienne Brockett of North Carolina, Charles Brockett Jr. of North Carolina, Jessie Monroe of Connecticut, Victoria Brockett of Florida, Daryl Brockett (Cindy Reynolds Brockett) of Connecticut, Bart Brockett of Connecticut, and Lise Brockett Prock (Corey) of Maine; stepchildren, Robert Erardi (Jean), Debra Cardini (Ronald), and Karen Erardi; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, the youngest Nathan Dodge, was the light of his life.
At the family’s request there will be no services.
