Charles K. Fassett, loving father, grandfather and friend, died peacefully on March 24. He was born in Madison, Wis. on Feb. 24, 1932.
Charlie was best known for his dapper and witty disposition that allowed him tremendous success with his career as a music professor of 35 years at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass.
His zest for adventure was an inspiration to many who heard of his travels around the globe, and often without rest in between! He loved to putter around his camp, always reveling in the process of keeping things running and looking forward to daily projects, his radio programs, and reading the newspaper.
In his final days, we were struck by the recurring theme of friends and family speaking of his consistent kindness, unconditional love, quiet support and infectious sense of humor. He would light up a room and friends would approach him with an eager ear to hear him speak about his own adventures, or perhaps hearing his impression on their own stories. He lived life to the fullest up until his last few days.
He is predeceased by mother, Katherine K. Fassett; father, Norman C. Fassett; and loving sister, Anne Sunshine.
He is survived by children, Frank C. Fassett of Boothbay Harbor, and Laura A. Russell of Cumberland and their spouses, Michelle Fassett and Peter Russell, respectively; sister, Marcia Grimm of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren, Eric, Kirsten and Anja Russell and Haize and Carson Fassett; and his “beloved” Ellen Baldwin; many more family members and friends; and devoted dogs, Happy, Becky, Woofie I and Woofie II, Suki, and Gilly. They are surely wagging and crying with excitement over this sacred reunion.
