Chester R. Crocker, 92, of Wiscasset, died March 8 at his residence.
He was born in Damariscotta on May 21, 1922, a son of John H. and Margueritte (Lessner) Crocker.
He graduated from Lincoln Academy and on Aug. 28, 1942 married Isabel L. Lewis. He entered the U.S. Navy serving during WWII and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Bronze Star and the Philippine Liberation Bronze Star. He was employed at Bath Iron Works as a pipefitter, retiring in 1984.
Chester enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially spending time with family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Isabel L. Crocker on July 16, 2007; brothers, Edward Crocker and Charles Crocker; sisters, Edna Weaver, Hazel Harold, and Florence Cossette; and grandson, David Crocker.
He is survived by sons, John Crocker of Minnesota, Robert Crocker and wife Nancy of Hinsdale, Mass., and Dennis Crocker and wife Marilyn of Wells; daughter, Sherry Franklin and husband Stuart of Fort Myers, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m., Fri., March 13 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. A celebration of his life will be held at 12 p.m., Sat., March 14 at the Woolwich-Wiscasset Baptist Church, Route 1, Woolwich. Burial with military honors will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset in the spring.
