On March 20, Christine B. Kennedy, a lifelong resident of Waldoboro, died peacefully at the age of 81. She is now at home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Christine worked at Pineland Hospital in New Gloucester during the late 1940s and enjoyed reminiscing about her work there. After her time at the hospital she worked at the Medomak Canning Company and then at the Paragon Button Factory, both in Waldoboro, and the North Lubec and Port Clyde Canning companies in Rockland, where she became one of the fastest sardine fish packers north of Portland. She was a hard worker and enjoyed staying busy at home after she retired when the fish factory closed. No matter where she went, she knew someone either from her working days or from the extended family or as a long-time friend, and she always loved to chat.
Christine loved listening to Elvis Presley and old country and gospel music and watching Little House on the Prairie, The Price is Right (with Bob Barker), and General Hospital. She also enjoyed attending church in the area, for many years at Grace Bible Fellowship in Rockland. Christine’s favorite spring activity was looking for Lady Slippers along the road with her grandchildren. She was known as “Nanny” to her grandchildren, and she enjoyed spoiling and feeding them. Christine loved to shop, especially at Christmas.
She is predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Ruby Eugley; husband, Guy Kennedy; son, Harold Kennedy; daughters-in-law, Sandra Kennedy and Evelyn “Faye” Kennedy; one grandchild; and many half-brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her loving son, Richard A. Kennedy of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Libby and Paul Miner of Nobleboro, Benjamin Kennedy of Portland, Anna Kennedy of Rochester, N.Y., Penny Keller of Newcastle, and Kimmie Kennedy of Nobleboro; and many step-grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and two half-siblings.
Graveside committal service 10 a.m., Sat., April 7 at Fairview Cemetery, Rt. 126, Jefferson.
