Clarence Pinkham Dodge, 84, of Edgecomb, died Sept. 27 at the St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor after a long period of failing health.
Born May 1, 1924 in Edgecomb to Leon Augustus and Rena May Pinkham Dodge, he attended Edgecomb schools. Leaving school early, he worked at Bath Iron Works before joining the U.S. Navy, serving on the destroyer Fullam in the South Pacific, participating in seven major operations during his tour.
After his discharge, he returned to Edgecomb and was employed for over 35 years with Bath Iron Works, retiring as an outside machinist.
He is a member of the Knights of Pythias in Boothbay Harbor, the Wells-Hussey American Legion in Damariscotta, and was a former member and deacon of the Edgecomb Congregational Church in Edgecomb.
Clarence loved to go to Rockwood to his camp, paddle the Sheepscot River, go crabbing and lobstering on the river recreationally, tending his flower gardens, and took great pride in mowing his lawn.
He is predeceased by his first wife Lois Dodge, and his second wife Carolyn Dodge.
Survivors include his son Alan Dodge and wife Joy of Edgecomb; daughter, Linda Wood and husband Keith of Dresden; two grandchildren, Jason Wood and wife April, and Stephanie Grant and husband Jim; three great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Earle of Woburn, Mass.; and brother, Leon Dodge of North Carolina.
Funeral service 11 a.m., Wed., Oct. 1 at the Edgecomb Congregational Church, Cross Point Rd. in Edgecomb, with Rev. Dr. Thomas Clough officiating. Interment will be in the Dodge Cemetery, Edgecomb.
