Clinton Jon Rankin Sr., 70, of Alna, passed away March 6 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. Born in Damariscotta on April 15, 1945, Clint was the son of the late Clarence Fay Rankin and Avis Ellen Hassan Rankin. Clint grew up in Alna, attended school there and was a lifelong resident.
Clint will lovingly be remembered for his quick wit and love for the outdoors. He was always busy doing something; he couldn’t sit down for a minute if there was something that had to be done. He was very proud of his son Jay – first and foremost, just for being born; when Jay graduated from high school and a few years later when he joined the Army and went to Iraq and Afghanistan, Clint couldn’t have been more proud. Clint was the best dad he knew how to be. He will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him.
Clint was the youngest of five children. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Rudolph Charles Rankin; sister, Mary Elizabeth Rankin Sideliner and husband Kenneth; brother-in-law, William Humason; niece, Nancy Martinez; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Clint is survived by his son, Clinton J. Rankin, Jr. (Jay) and girlfriend Melissa Green of Wiscasset; longtime companion, Mary Chapman Pratt of Alna; sister, Joyce E. Humason, of Alna; brother, Bradford C. Rankin and wife Jane of Oakfield; granddaughter, Isabella R. Rankin of Monmouth; grandson, Xander S. Rankin of Lafayette, La.; nephews, Rudy Davis of Rangeley and Stephen Humason of Southport; and nieces, Darlene Ashby of Alna, Avis Kohler of Virginia, Joyce Messer of Moscow, Mary Pabon of New Britain, Conn., and Beth Woodbury of Union.
There will be no visitation or funeral service per Clint’s request. A celebration of life will be held on Clint’s birthday, Fri., April 15 from 2-5 p.m. at his sister Joyce’s home, 139 Cross Rd., Alna.
