D.L. Allen III, 55, of Alna, died Sept. 28 at his residence.
He was born in Trenton, Mich. on Nov. 22, 1961, a son of D.L. and Sharon (Spooner) Allen Jr.
He attended Michigan schools. He entered the U.S. Army and on Sept. 21, 1981 he married Cindy Seigars. They were stationed in Germany. After his discharge from the Army he moved to Wiscasset and was employed at Carlton Woolen Mill where he was vice president and president of the union. In 1984 he moved to Michigan, returning to Maine in 1986. He was a painter for T. Buck Painting, Blue Fin Painting and Rodericks Painting. He then owned and operated Grandpa Painting.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, snowmobiling and riding motorcycles.
D.L. was loved by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Allen of Alna; father, D.L. Allen Jr. of Michigan; mother, Sharon Allen of Michigan, son, D.L. Allen IV of Benton; daughter, Tarah Allen of Wiscasset; brothers, Craig Allen of Michigan, Neil Allen of Michigan, and David Goss of Michigan; sisters, Valerie Flynn of Michigan, and Sheryl Banfield of New York; grandchildren, MacKenzie Allen, Savanna Allen, and Isaac Ezzell; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A private service with military honors was held in Augusta.
