Dana R. Foster, 54, of Oakland, passed away after a long illness on Sept. 11 at Inland Hospital in Waterville. Born in Rockland on Feb. 2, 1962, he was the son of Robert S. and Hilma J. Foster. He was educated in Waldoboro schools and graduated from Medomak Valley High School in 1980.
Dana loved sports, especially baseball, and played Little League on the Bears and later played Babe Ruth baseball. He also played on his high school team. The Red Sox and the Patriots were his all time sports favorites. Dana was also an early CB radio enthusiast and remained so all of his life.
He was an animal lover and always had cats. He often took in cats that otherwise would not have survived.
Dana worked many years at Electro Tec in Rockland, a job that he loved. However, he sustained a neck injury and reluctantly had to leave that position. He loved lawn sales and enjoyed buying and selling items, especially those of the electronic variety.
Dana moved to Waterville area later in life and made many friends. He especially enjoyed the Waterville Social Club and the folks that he met there.
He is survived by daughter, Joyce Stubbs; granddaughter, Breylynn; parents, Robert and Hilma Foster of Waldoboro; companion, Audrey Cates of Oakland; siblings, Karen Goyet and husband Michael of Saco, Paul Foster of Wiscasset, Lelia Dyer and husband Dana of Waldoboro, and Jeanette Belanger of Augusta; and nine nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., Sept. 17 at the German Cemetery, 235 Bremen Rd., Rt. 32, in Waldoboro.
Donations may be made to the animal shelter of choice, in lieu of flowers.
