David Rayer, 68, of Friendship, died peacefully on May 5 at Mid Coast Hospital. He was diagnosed with cancer in mid-March, 2018.
He was born in Marin County, Calif. on Feb. 24, 1950 to Ronald and Helen Rayer.
David was a master gardener, active in the local Democratic organization, as well as bird and dog organizations. He very much enjoyed attending events and meeting those with similar interests.
During David’s time in the Boston area he had a piano-moving business. He relocated to Friendship to assist his parents with renovating a 1790 cape, and remained to become a farmer.
David is predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Helen Rayer of Friendship.
David is survived by daughter, Zoe Perpall of South Carolina; sisters, Nina Rayer of Maine, Ellen Rayer of Arizona and Gwynneth Rayer of Maine; and close friend, Sandy Moon of New York.
His wishes were for no formal service. Ashes will be scattered in places where he was most happy.
Donations to an animal center or gardening project would be something David would have liked.
