David Reed, 47, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away Nov. 29 surrounded by his family after a period of failing health.
David was born April 23, 1964 in Damariscotta, the son of David and Joan L. Barter Reed, and is a graduate of Boothbay Region High School, class of 1982, and attended University Maine, Farmington for two years.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm in the early 1990s as a master electrician, wiring landing lights at airports the military was building there.
Upon his discharge, he returned to Florida, where he owned his own electrical business for a few years before returning to Boothbay Harbor in 1996. He operated his electrical contracting business locally until his failing health forced him to stop working.
He was an avid golfer, and loved watching the Red Sox and New England Patriots.
He is predeceased by his mother Joan L. Reed, who died in 2005.
Survivors include his father, David Reed of Boothbay Harbor; fiancée, Dawn Kinney of Boothbay Harbor; sisters, Julie Rogers of Topsham and Mary Beth Coniff and husband Greg of Augusta; twin daughters, Katherine A. Reed and Kristina E. Reed of Florida; Dawn’s children, Lindsey Kinney and husband Adam Michaud of Presque Isle, and Ryan Kinney and wife Christina of Fort Fairfield; eight wonderful grandchildren; nieces, Rebecca Coniff and Lauren Coniff of Augusta; and cousins, Collette Howell and J. Michael Reed of Boothbay Harbor.
Celebration of David’s life 1 p.m., Fri., Dec. 2 at the Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay, followed by interment with military honors in Ocean View Cemetery.
