Dollena Prescott, 84, died Aug. 13 in Tucson, Ariz. She was born Nov. 15, 1932, in Waldoboro, the daughter of Lillian Rector and Delma Pierce.
She attended Waldoboro schools, and graduated as Class Historian of Waldoboro High School in 1951.
From January 1952 until May 1956, and again from May 1963 until May 1976, she was employed by the Town of Waldoboro, serving as secretary to the town manager, bookkeeper, tax collector, deputy treasurer, and registrar of voters. She was elected to the board of selectmen in 1978, and served two three-year terms, acting as chairperson during her last year on the board, 1984. She served as the part-time bookkeeper for the Waldoboro Utility District for a period of 20 years.
From April 1977 until January 1994, she was employed at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, in the Fiscal Services Department. At the time of her retirement, she was the accounting supervisor.
She was a Charter Member of the Orff’s Corner Community Church in Waldoboro, and had served as moderator, deaconess, member of the finance committee, Christian stewardship committee, and was the church treasurer for a period of 12 years.
She was a charter member of the Waldoborough Historical Society.
In 1999, she and her husband began traveling in their RV to Arizona for the winter months. They moved to Tucson, Ariz. in November 2003, and purchased a home there in 2004.
She is predeceased by her parents; and stepson, Gary Prescott.
She is survived by her husband of more than 42 years, Edwin H. Prescott; son, Douglas E. Curtis; grandson, Andrew H. Curtis, both of Fredericksburg, Va.; stepsons, Dane Prescott and wife Carol of Concord, N.H., and Ralph Prescott of Contoocook, N.H.; step-grandchildren, Kevin Prescott and wife Casey and their sons, Jack Kevin Prescott, and Wyatt John Prescott of Reading, Mass.; Kristopher Prescott of Concord, N.H., Joel Prescott of Gardiner, and Sarah Prescott Geschwindner and son Andrew Ryan Prescott of Concord, N.H.; and Tyler Prescott of Bradford, N.H.; and Candice Wood and husband Brian, and Dylan Mullen of Contoocook, N.H.; several cousins in the Waldoboro area; and special extended family members, Lee and Annette Smith of Warren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., Aug. 26 at the Orff’s Corner Community Church, Waldoboro, with Rev Robert Bellows officiating.
Interment will be in Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord, N.H.
