Donald F. Schrock, 85, formerly of Jefferson, died May 3 with his family by his side. He died at the home of his daughter, a house he built himself, in Townsend, Mass.
Born on Dec. 3, 1929 in San Diego, Cal., he was the son of the late Melvin and Madge (Ellis) Schrock.
Mr. Schrock was a graduate of Snyder Continuation High School in San Diego, Cal., a member of the class of 1949. During the Korean Conflict, he served his country honorably with the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
On Oct. 20, 1952, he married the former Claire H. Peters at Saint Joseph’s Church in Fitchburg, Mass.
They lived in the San Diego area until they moved to Fitchburg, Mass., and also lived in Townsend, Mass. for close to 30 years. In his retirement, they moved to the Deer Meadow section of Bunker Hill Road, Jefferson, until his wife’s death when he returned to Massachusetts to be closer to his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, who died Aug. 6, 2008.
Mr. Schrock is survived by sons, Donald J. Schrock of Peterborough, N.H., David S. Schrock of Jacksonville, N.C., and Daniel E. Schrock of Townsend, Mass.; daughter, Heidi A. Crim of Townsend, Mass.; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held for Mr. Schrock 3-5 p.m., Sat., June 13 at the Townsend Congregational Church, 3 Brookline St. in Townsend, Mass.
