Doris Ella Boynton, 92, of Whitefield, passed away July 7 at Maine General Hospital in Augusta.
She was born July 21, 1917 in Jefferson, a daughter of the late Wilder and Grace (Jones) Jones.
Growing up in Jefferson, she attended local schools and graduated from Cony High School, Class of 1936.
On Oct. 14, 1940 she married the love of her life, Alden C. Boynton, and they made their home in Whitefield.
In her early years, she was a cook at the Meserve House in Jefferson and a homemaker, raising her family. She was a private care giver at the Augusta Convalescent Center.
She was active in the start up of the Whitefield Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the GOP Republican Party, was a leader of the 4-H Club for many years and a member of PALS (PALS Animal Shelter) where she loved cats and other animals; she enjoyed sewing, flower gardens and her cottage on Damariscotta Lake.
She was predeceased by twin sister, Dorothy Hodgkins; six brothers; and beloved cat, “Annie.”
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Alden Boynton of Whitefield; son, Alden C. “Denny” Boynton Jr. of Whitefield; daughters, Sharon Clark and husband David of Coopers Mills, and Hayley Parlin of Whitefield; grandchildren, Cameron Brann of Whitefield, Wendy Malinowski and husband Mike of W. Gardiner, Jamie Boynton of Hopkinton, Mass., Dan Grady and wife Billie Jo of Whitefield, Shanna Pease and husband Jason of Jefferson, Travis Grady and wife Angie of Whitefield, and Trever Grady of Windsor; great-grandchildren, Jed Malinowski of West Gardiner, Traviana Higgins of Jefferson, Shamus Pease of Jefferson, Grady Pease of Jefferson, Kelsie Grady of Waldoboro, Tyler Grady of Whitefield, Allison Grady of Whitefield, Jordan Grady of Whitefield, Devan Grady of Whitefield, and Nick, Caleb, Tom and Amber Grady of Whitefield; and brother, Roland Jones and wife Gerry of Jefferson.
Graveside service 3 p.m., Mon., July 12 at the Highland Cemetery, Rt. 126, Jefferson. Pastor Jerry Wright will officiate.
