Edward R. Mank, Sr., 91, of Wiscasset, died May 28 at his son Richard’s residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in Bath on Feb. 7, 1917, a son of Elmer and Hazel (Stevens) Mank, Sr. He attended Woolwich schools and Bath schools. He was employed at Bath Iron Works as a carpenter. On Dec. 5, 1938 he married Frances A. Lewis. He entered the US Navy and served during WWII. He returned to Bath Iron Works as a carpenter and retired after 44 years on May 1, 1980.
He was a member of the Masons.
He enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially the many winters he spent with this wife Frances in Arizona.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances A. Mank on May 28, 2003.
He is survived by two sons, Edward R. Mank, Jr. and wife Joan of Damariscotta, and Richard L. Mank and wife Carolyn of Wiscasset; one daughter, Brenda J. House of Wiscasset; three brothers, Elmer Mank, Jr. of Woolwich, Vernon Mank of New Mexico and Warren Mank of Florida; two sisters, Phyllis Dionne of Connecticut and Glennis Maxson of Lisbon Falls; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m. Fri., May 30 at Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal St., Wiscasset. Funeral service 11 a.m., Sat., May 31 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grover Cemetery in Woolwich.
