Elizabeth R. (Bette) Olson, nee Dorner, 91, beloved wife of the late Oscar Olson, passed away on Aug. 24 in Damariscotta.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., Bette grew up in Huntington, Long Island, N.Y. She graduated from Huntington High School, class of 1934, followed by the Methodist School of Nursing in Brooklyn. She lived in Huntington for over 60 years where she practiced private duty nursing.
Upon her husband’s passing in 1988, she moved to Leisure Glen in Ridge, N.Y., where she became active in amateur theater. In addition to her lifelong passion for theater, her interests included boating and world travel. Bette moved to Damariscotta in 2003.
She will be remembered for her utmost devotion to her children and her strong positive outlook that inspired all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Jonathan Eilers.
She is survived by her two sons, James Olson of Nobleboro, and Greg Olson of Riverwoods, Ill.; daughter, Christine Eilers of Huntington, N.Y.; grandchildren, Christopher Olson, Barnaby Olson, Elise Olson and Meredith Eilers; great-grandchildren, Camden and Connor Olson; and a sister, Victoria Eberhardt.
Family memorial service Sept. 8 held at the Old German Church in Waldoboro.
