Ethel May Stolte, 93, of South Amboy, N.J., passed away on the morning of Sept. 14 at her home. Born in Bristol Mills on March 28, 1921, she was the daughter of Rodney and Mildred Donovan Murphy Chapman.
She lived in South Amboy, N.J. for most of her life, and before her retirement was employed by E.I. DuPont & Co. in Parlin, N.J. for over 30 years. While living in New Jersey, she was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in South Amboy.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Michael A. Stolte, who preceded her in death by just one week, passing on Sept. 6.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Barbara Stolte of Monroe, N.J., and Michael Jr. and Laura Stolte of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Ronald Edwards of Nokesville, Va.; brother, Robert “Bobby” Tibbets and wife Susan of Bristol Mills; as well as seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 – 10:30 a.m., Fri., Sept. 19 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., also on Fri., Sept. 19, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Newcastle. She will be laid to rest with her husband and parents, in the Bristol Mills Cemetery, following the service.
