Florence E. Foster, formerly of Round Pond, passed away March 5 at Coves Edge Nursing Home in Damariscotta with her family by her side.
Born March 22, 1921, in Bath, she was the daughter of Edward Fairbrother, Sr. and Ruth (Sherman) Fairbrother of Edgecomb.
She attended Edgecomb schools and worked as a chambermaid at several cabins and guest homes in the area.
She married Charles Foster of Round Pond on Jan. 24, 1940.
She worked in several sardine factories and picked crabmeat for several years at home while raising her three children.
She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Mildred Feltis, Myrtle Stover and Ruth Winchenbach; son, Everett Foster; and her husband, Charles Foster.
She is survived by her brother, Edward Fairbrother, Jr. of Edgecomb; daughters, Marjorie Oliver of Nobleboro, and Barbara Brewer of Brunswick; daughter-in-law, Beverley Foster of Round Pond; granddaughters, Deborah Meadows of Damariscotta, Pamela Peaslee and husband Richard of Somerville, Teresa Oliver of Woolwich, Leslie Blake of Brunswick, Alyssa Brewer of Georgetown, Juliana Hebert of Brunswick, and Jessica Hatch; grandsons, John Oliver of Waldoboro, James Oliver of Warren, Jason Oliver of Nobleboro, Everett Foster, Jr. of Round Pond, and Chris Brewer of Saco; great-granddaughters, Amanda and Rebecca Meadows of Damariscotta, Melissa Abbott of Nobleboro, Kimberly Sprague of Thomaston, Bethany Oliver of Waldoboro, Kathy Murphy of Woolwich, Christy Hatch, and Chantell Foster of Round Pond, Isabelle Blake, and Delilah and Anastasia Hebert of Brunswick; great-grandsons, Jonathan Meadows of Damariscotta, David Nichols of Somerville, Daniel Foster of Round Pond, and Benjamin Blake of Brunswick; great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kaiden Abbott, and Amber Nichols; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Wed., March 14 at Strong Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
