Frances W. Harrington, 85, of Pemaquid, passed away Oct. 9 peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta.
She was born in Medford, Mass. on Aug. 25, 1923, the daughter of Walter and Eva (Closson) Wells.
Fran was a great cook and had worked at S&H Green Stamps, planning and cooking for the employees. She was known for her homemade bread and rolls.
She retired with her husband to Pemaquid in 1984. She loved Maine. She had a great sense of humor and stubbornness right to the end. The staff at Cove’s Edge called her Grammy which made her feel special.
Fran was predeceased by her husband, Philip, who died in 1999; and her sisters Pearl, Cora and Dora.
She is survived by her daughters Priscilla Sherwood and husband Donald, Beth Etsell and husband Bob, Sheree Markwarth and husband Michael; son, Philip and fiancée Sharon Parda; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Lee and brother-in-law Edward; many nieces and nephews and dear friend Barbara Fossett of New Harbor.

Memorial service and burial will take place in the spring at Harrington Cemetery, Pemaquid.
