George S. Hebb Jr., 93, of Winchester, Mass., passed away peacefully on May 31.
He was a graduate of Winchester High School, Kimball Union Academy and Bowdoin College.
A WWII Navy Veteran, he commanded a landing craft on Omaha Beach on D-day. Following the war he returned to Winchester and worked as a tanner in the family business. In 1964 he married Martha Bugg and in 1965 had daughter Sarah.
George and his family spent summers in Damariscotta where they welcomed visitors from near and far. George and Martha loved to travel and shared interests in art, music and gardening. George was a generous donor and dedicated volunteer for many local and community organizations.
George was predeceased by his beloved wife, Martha B. (Bugg) Hebb.
He is survived by daughter, Sarah and husband Michael Carpenter of Bedford, Mass.; and grandchildren, Liam George and Janae JeeSon Carpenter.
Visiting hours will be held 4-7 p.m., Wed., June 4, at the Lane Funeral Home, 760 Main St. (Rt. 38), Winchester, Mass. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Thurs., June 5 at the First Congregational Church, 21 Church St., Winchester, Mass. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
