Geraldine Brown Plezia, lately of Horizons Living Center in Brunswick, passed away on Jan. 3.
Born in Bangor on Jan. 6, 1921, Geraldine graduated from Hamden Academy in 1938 at the age of 17. Over the years Geraldine had a number of jobs in the food service industry, at the Hyde Windlass Company and in the medical profession. Among her high points were the time that she spent as a professional baker, and owning and operating the Villa By The Sea at Ocean Point. She was also very involved in several charitable endeavors having served as president of the Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church Guild, co-president of the Boothbay Harbor Couples Club, vice president of the Brunswick Emblem Club Number 323 and Crafts Leader for 21 years in the Anna Miller Circle of the Stuart / Jensen, Florida Elks Lodge, dedicated to raising money for the local crippled children’s hospital.
She had been married four different times and was predeceased by all of her husbands, Roscoe F. Giles, Orson J. Delano, Ralph G. Orrill and Edmund Plezia. She was also predeceased by her grandson, John Yates.
Geraldine is survived by her son, David Eugene Giles of Brunswick; daughter, Diane Delano Robertson of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; grandchildren, Julie Yates Breen, Lisa May Hibl, Jessica Giles, Stacey Dougherty, Heather Isherwood, and Amanda Coyle; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Per Geraldine’s wishes there are not to be a memorial service or public interment. Those wishing to acknowledge her passing are encouraged to make donations in her name to the charity of their choice, in lieu of sending flowers.
