Gloria J. Brawn, 74, of Woolwich, died Jan. 16 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
She was born in Houlton on Jan. 9, 1944, a daughter of Leland and Marjorie (Ruth) Irish.
She grew up in Bath and attended Morse High School where she met Arthur Brawn. They were married on Feb. 28, 1962 and lived in Woolwich. In 1985 they moved to Linneus and owned and operated Gloria’s Country Inn. They returned to Woolwich in 1987.
She was a member of the Lions Club in Wiscasset, serving as president and secretary, and a past member of the Woolwich Fire Dept. Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary in Bath.
She enjoyed painting, travelling, camping and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had an adventurist bucket list that included skydiving. She was extremely proud the day she checked that off her list. Her passion to help others who were in need was a lifelong avocation that she pursued quietly throughout her life.
She was predeceased by son, Raymond Brawn; brother, Roger Irish; and sister, Nancy Foutch.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Brawn of Woolwich; son, Roger Brawn and wife Greta of Woolwich; sisters, Gail Smith, Laura Leonard and Debora Irish; grandchildren, Breann Hale and Jessica Mailly; great-grandchildren, Damien, Miya, and Colby; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., May 12 at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Woolwich. Arrangements are by Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath.
