Hazel Mae (Burns) Sargent, 66, of Friendship, passed away Sept. 30 at home after a period of declining health.
She was born May 16, 1942, in Waldoboro, daughter of the late Raymond L. and Jennie M. (Simmons) Burns, Sr.
Mrs. Sargent attended local schools. She picked crabmeat and babysat for many local families, and then traveled to Massachusetts and New York to be a nanny. She worked at Port Clyde Packing Co., Fieldcrest Manor, and also did private duty care. She worked for many years at Paragon Plastics (Button Factory).
On March 15, 1997 she married Stanley V. Sargent in Friendship.
Mrs. Sargent enjoyed crocheting, knitting, singing and playing the guitar, country music, playing cards and spending time with her family, friends and pets. She also had a way with words and there was never a dull moment.
Mrs. Sargent was predeceased by her husband in 2007; brother, Raymond (Sonny) Burns, Jr., and her parents.
She is survived by her brothers, Chester Burns and wife Donna, and Kenneth Burns and wife Dorothy; sister, Joyce Richards, all of Friendship, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
At the request of Mrs. Sargent, there will be no service.
Those who wish may make a donation in her memory to the charity of their choice.
Arrangements are by Direct Cremation of Maine.
