Jaime W. Brooks, 39, of Alna, passed away on the morning of Aug. 26 at the LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta, following a long illness. Born on July 13, 1977 in Falmouth, Mass., he was the son of Winfield S. and Nancy (Brophy) Brooks.
Jaime was a graduate of Wiscasset High School as a member of the class of 1995, and graduated from University of Maine in 2001 from the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture, School of Parks and Recreation.
One of Jaime’s passions in life was mountain biking, and competing in time trials where he excelled in his younger years throughout New England and Canada. He had a great love of Baxter State Park and his many seasons of trail work and mountain rescues on Mount Katahdin as a member of the Student Conservation Association. Jaime enjoyed canoeing and kayaking on the waters of Sheepscot River near his home.
For several years, he worked at Bath Cycle and Ski in Bath and doing stone work with his good friend, the late Jess Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Brooks; maternal grandfather, James C. Brophy; and paternal grandparents, Winfield and Katherine Brooks.
In addition to his father of Alna, Jaime is survived by his maternal grandmother, Bettie K. Brophy of Centerville, Mass.; and aunts, Elisibeth Morris of Centerville, Mass., Elisibeth Terry of Welfleet, Mass., Judith Wiley of Rhode Island, and Marlen Wightmen of California.
Private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
